The Karen Blixen Museum offers tourists the opportunity to step back and experience the elegance of Blixen’s Kenya. Karen Blixen along with her fiancé established a coffee plantation on their new land at Ngong hills which they purchased upon arrival from their native homeland, Denmark.

On a visit to this museum you will notice how the house which Karen herself used to live in has been lovingly restored and its spacious rooms furnished with Karen’s art pieces. A guided tour will also offer you an insight into colonial life in the early 20th century on top of the history of coffee growing in Kenya.

Karen Blixen has an incredible history in the farm which you will expect to be briefed on, with demonstrations of her own personal objects including books, art pieces and a lantern.

This tour then proceeds to the Giraffe Center, not very far off from the Karen Blixen Museum. The Center started out as a rehabilitation project to preserve the endangered Rothschild Giraffe, as there were only 120 of them left at the time. Here at the Giraffe Center you will be able to pet the giraffes and even feed them as you stand on a raised platform looking eye to the with the giraffes.

Across from the Giraffe Center is a small nature walk that features two other giraffes and a variety of unique plants and birds. After the feeding session, your guide will take you back to your residence/hotel in Nairobi to mark the end of this excursion.
